Green River

Our Favorite Family Trip

Muler Park

We went up to Muller Park for a picnic.  The weather couldn't be nicer.  Niki discovered that she can go really fast down hills on her firetruck.  I haven't heard her laugh so hard in a long time.  Scared me to death though she was going so fast!

We also went on a hike and discovered all the things that are in the "Bear Hunt" book that happens to be Niki's favorite right now:  Hike through the forest, over the river, through the mud, through the grass, and in the rock cave.  The best was going through the grass. They didn't know you could really do that.  Both girls wanted to go through it again and again.

Camping!!!

We had so much fun camping with some of our friends. We made banana boats and ate dutch oven cobbler around the fire. The girls loved the tent and their new Princess sleeping bags. We found Lily asleep upside down in her sleeping bag in the morning. For bfast we celebrated Niki's first birthday with a candle in her pancake. After we packed up we went on a nature walk 'hike' around the park. It was so much fun, I can't wait to do it again.

Let's go Fly a Kite

We visited our friends in Dallas on Saturday and went to a park. It was fun to spend the entire day (practically) with our friends. Thanks for the fun times!

Hiking and more Hiking

We hiked up the road in the hills on post after a day of work. The girls both really love to hike, we just wish they weren't so heavy!

Tonight we drove to Corronodo National Monument. It was late, but we hiked up the hill to overlook Mexico! It was a beautiful sunset.

Tuscon

We spent Saturday driving to Tuscon. We stoped at Davis Monthan AFB and looked at the airplane bone yard. That's alot of planes! Then we headed up to the mountains for a picnic, hike through wildflowers, and of course Mt. Lemon Ski Hill. Lily was sad when she didn't get to ride up the lift.

Kauai with the Sharps

We had so much fun playing on Kauai. It is our new favorite island of Hawaii. Big enough for variety, small enough to drive around in one day.

Also pictured is some of the fun stuff we did on our home island Oahu before we flew over to Kauai.

Pearl City Loop

There is a loop through the jungle that we conquered on Wednesday. We always love our hikes together. It is good to get out of the house and explore.

Tyler wanted even more of a workout and went running along a branch of the trail. Lily and I chilled and had some quality picture time.

Whale Watchin' Mamas

Look how happy we are. This was a fun outing.

We hiked to the light house with our friends and all the jogging strollers (4 Mamas, 5 Babies, and 1 Dad). There were tons of whales out that day!
Don't just take my word for it. Here's what Andrea saw and says:

Stairway to Heaven

What a trip! Tyler, my dad, and I got up early and headed up the vertigo stairs. The visibility was great and it was so beautiful to look over the windward side of the island. Then we got to the top ridge and the sprinkling started. 600 sets of 7 stairs each (the railings are numbered) and we made it to the old bunker at the top. It was definatley raining. Never fear, we had good rain gear!

Then the fun began.

We hiked further along the ridge through mud and brush. Slipping and sliding. Clinging to the plants to avoid falling. Dirty, but kind of fun.
We met and followed the Moanalua Ridge trail down along another ridge. This was were it got ruff. 20mph winds threatened to knock us off the narrow path. What a rush! Above the treeline and descending quickly, we scrambled, slipped, and trudged along. It's a good thing we had that rope to hold us together. Would it ever end!

Well it did, but we were drenched and muddy from head to toe. As the rain and wind subsided, we even caught glimpses of waterfalls on the ridge next to us. We reached the trees (yea trees! Windblocking, good gripping, supportive trees!) and the hike continued to desend through the jungle. We know this meets up with the road right?

There it was, the road. Oh. On the other side of this stream. Well we're soaked anyways. Wading is no big deal. As we walked and walked for an hour or so along the road, the rain resumed. Soaked again. The stream was larger than usual due to the rain. We counted 18 crossings that we had to make along the road, with the last 6 having old bridges.

As we staggered into the park (and loaded up on Ibuprofen) beyond thoughts of "Owe" "Cold" and "I can't move" it was a great feeling to realize what we had accomplished. Hiking from one side of the island to the other. That was one thrilling hike and we did it! It's memories like this that make me realize how much I love hiking.

Aiea Loop Hike

We hiked the Aiea Loop trail. We got muddy and drenched. Lily fell asleep just as is started pouring and woke up just as it ended. Crazy!

Judd Trail

This was a quick 30 min loop trail with a neat river and a swimming hole. Next time we will have to wear our swim suits. It was perfect for the short hour of time we had to do something fun.

Hauula Hike for FHE

Our hiker baby is at it again. She just loves all the trees. She had so much fun it wore her out. We loved the shade as we hiked and the overlooks of the valleys and ocean. It even felt a little like fall because of the overcast and slight chill in the air. And the total time was: 1hr 30mins. Pretty good for a family of 3!

Lily of the Day - Month 4

Lily likes to play. She is "talking" to herself now. She enjoys going on walks and for car rides. She is starting to balance herself in sitting and standing positions. She can scoot herself on her back and roll from side to side.
